Braxton Bragg was born in Warren County, March 22nd 1817. Bragg graduated 5th in his class from the U.S Military Academy. Starting in 1846 Bragg served as a conduct of defense in the Mexican war, it was said that he helped save the U.S army with his “Flying Artillery” tactic. In Autuom of 1862 Bragg led a huge and big advance from eastern Tennesse across Kentucky and he almost made it to Lousiville, being short of supplies Bragg pulled out into east Tennesee. Bragg was so good at what he did that he was the head of the Tennessee army. (http://www.aotc.net/Bragg_home.htm) . He managed to invade Kentucky and find supporters of the confederate army. Later that year in December Bragg fought the Battle of the Stones River and he came close to defeating Union Maj but he pulled his army back. In Feburary of 1864, he was sent to Richmond, he used currupt yet smart ideas to improve the supply system .

Note 1

A slave is someone who is owned by another person, they don’t have equal rights and they don’t get what they want. A Slave has to do whatever they are asked and if they don’t they suffer very many consequences, even if they work to. (http://www.historyonthenet.com/Slave_Trade/slaveryexplain.htm . Slavery can be enforced by violence, there were no rules on what slave master could or couldn’t do. Slaves were people of a different ethnicity, in America the African Americans were the slaves. They were usually not doing well economically. Slavery wasn’t just blacks being owned by whites there were also Arab slaves and there was slavery in other countries. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery) . The American revolution had many consequences, during the war slaves freed themselves by running away, and in the south slavery became more of an issue and it expanded quite fast through the Southwest. Slaves went through a lot there was no way they could defend themselves. The only good thing about the war for the slaves is that they could be considered free and that was a big thing for African Americans. But once they were free some slaves didn't know what do to with themselves, some of them just ended back up on the plantation.

Note 2
Another name for the Civil war was the War Between the States. The Civil War was when 11 Southern States decided they wanted to form a secession from the United States and become the Confederate States of America. In 1865 there was a chance for a peace offering but President Lincoln refused and the conference never happened. (http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/cwphtml/tl1865.html). 1865, was the year where slavery was banned this happened on Wednesday December 6th 1865, it was the 13th amendment, and on Monday December 18th slavery was abolished and the amendment was passed. With this new amendment many confederates were angry, and this is when groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and other hate groups started becoming more open about their hatred towards Blacks. (http://www.spiritus-temporis.com/1865/). After the slaves were free some of them didn’t know how to live, what to do or some of them were still treated terribly so many of them contiunted to stay on the farms and work. Soldiers had the same problem they didn’t know what to expect when the returned home. After the war it was also a big reconstruction time in America the North had to help the South rebuild and fix everything that was ruined. The war also put the country in a lot of debt that hurt them in the long run, many people were very upset with Lincolns decisions and what happened in 1865 after the war. Note 3

There are many reasons to why the Revolutionary War was fought. The confederate people wanted more land and they were willing to destroy anyone and anything that was in their way, they believed that it was good for the people. (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_fought_the_Revolutionary_War_and_why_did_they) Another part of the war was fought between the American and the British. This part was fought because the Americans didn’t let the British pray and express their beliefs the way they wanted to, so the British began to tax items and become very bossy and obviously the Americans didn’t like this and they wanted to break away and form their own colony so they began war this is also another reason why it was called the War of Independence (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080914151428AAF19b2) It was said that the Americans wouldn’t be able to survive the war without French assistance, the British had all the army, and weapons anyone fighting a war could ask for. The problem the British had was that they couldn’t ask slaves or Native Americans for help because that would turn many of the loyaltists away and they needed them, so the British had German mercinaries, and Hessians fight for them, (http://www.myrevolutionarywar.com/) The war was fought in many different places on what is now U.S soil, many of the fights took place in South Carolina.

Note 4
Slaves didn’t have much power over anything, they couldn’t control anyone, and every white male, female, young and old had control over them. But it came to a point where there was only so much a slave could take, and that’s when the idea of resistance kicked in. Some slaves didn’t make completely drastic choices; they did small amounts of resistance like, breaking tools, faking illness and sometimes arson and sabotage. Some slaves ran away which was another form of resistance, sometimes is wasn’t possible to run far away from the plantation where they worked at, so if they couldn’t run far it was just a break from the work. And once the ideas of underground railroads kicked in slaves began to permanently escape, over half the runaway slaves headed south or to refugees that were located in the swamps. A lot of the slaves weren’t experienced with the outside world. An example of a slave who resisted slavery was Frederick Douglass, he was born into slavery but he later grew up and escaped from slavery and became one of the most famous abolitionists. Another example is from the novel published in 1852 Uncle Tom’s Cabin written by Harriet Beecher Stowe, she put all the negatives from slavery into her book and it showed how the slaves were treated, this book was the 2nd most selling book after the bible.
